On September 7, 2024, over 1,600 participants gathered at Mranti Park, Bukit Jalil, for the YYC Charity Run, as the company celebrates its 50th anniversary. Despite an early drizzle, the 5km and 10km runs proceeded smoothly, uniting attendees for a greater cause.
The event raised RM247,466 through donations, sponsorships, merchandise sales, and game booths, with additional contributions received on the day itself. Proceeds will support House of Love and 448 Food Bank in distributing 1,000 food aid kits to 20 NGO houses and families, positively impacting those in need. The initiative aligns with YYC’s Purpose, which aims to positively impact 100 million lives by rallying businesses and individuals to create meaningful social, environmental, and economic change across Malaysia.
Volunteers played a pivotal role, with 9 YYC House of GLC’s committee members, 12 helpers, and 50 volunteers from 448 Food Bank ensuring the event’s success. Early in the morning, they packed and prepared the food aid kits, which were later delivered by YYC employees to communities in Klang, Puchong, Subang, Shah Alam, and other areas.
The day kicked off with a lively Zumba session, followed by scenic runs and vibrant activities, including games, giveaways, and a photo booth by Printcious. Participants enjoyed food stalls, packed meals from The Fish Bowl, and drinks from official water sponsor Spritzer.
Sponsors and supporters were recognized during a token presentation by YYC CEO Datin Yap Shin Siang and Dr. Joseph Pang of House of Love, highlighting contributions from Newswav (Official Media Partner), Promex, Kiara Square Shopping Mall, BateriHub, Nongshim Malaysia, Health Paradise and others.
YYC CEO, Datin Yap Shin Siang, shared her reflections on the event, emphasizing its significance as part of the company’s 50th-anniversary celebrations. “We decided to do it big this time, and I’m truly happy with the incredible turnout,” she said. “But the most important thing is to always give back to society, whether through big or small gestures. Gratitude is essential, and it’s something we must never forget.”
Datin Shin also shared a heartfelt story about the company’s humble beginnings, recounting how her uncle once lent her father, Mr. Yap money to pursue higher education and then eventually start the business. This act of generosity became the foundation of YYC’s journey, inspiring the company’s continued commitment to uplifting others.
Participants praised the event as fun and well-organized, with many highlighting its meaningful impact. Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM) conducted an on-the-spot interview with the run organizers, emphasizing the noble charitable cause of food donations. The initiative was widely appreciated for its positive contribution to the community and the thoughtfulness behind such acts of giving.
The YYC Charity Run 2024 successfully celebrated the company’s milestone while reinforcing its commitment to creating a lasting positive impact in the community.
